Abstract: | Transgenic silkworms possessing artificial anti-viral genes were constructed using a transposon, piggyBac, system and subjected to test for their resistance to Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV). Silkworms inoculated with BmNPV at the 1st day of the 2nd instar larvae survived till 4th instar larvae, and all of them were found to be transgenic silkworms. Though apparent BmNPV resistance increased in the transgenic silkworms, further improvement of the resistance was required for practical use. |
