Abstract: An interpolation inequality for the total variation of the gradient of a com­posite function has been derived by applying the coarea formula. A bound for the pressure integral has been studied by establishing an a priori estimate for a solution of the Grad-Shafranov equation of plasma equilibrium. A weak formulation of the Grad­Shafranov equation has been given to include singular current profiles.
