This study aims at the marriage motive of Chinese women who had married to urban areas in Japan. By grasping the characteristics of the marriage motive in different times, the study analyzes the influence of the changing times on the marriage motive, and further analyzes the inherent causes. According to the survey results, in the first decade of the 21st century, divorce experience, poverty and other factors indirectly or directly affected the marriage motive through the love view. During this period, the change of public opinion failed to keep pace with the sharp increase in the number of divorces, which made people hold a negative attitude towards the divorced population. In addition, as the concept that men are superior to women was deeply rooted in people’s mind, women were in a more disadvantageous position in divorce compared with men. Especially women who had children with their ex-husbands were confronted with the difficulty of remarriage. Japanese men could accept children between their wives and former husband unconditionally, which had a strong appeal to the Chinese women, and thus they choose transnational marriages instead. At the same time, China's society was transiting from a well-off society to an overall well-off one, and there were still many people whose living standards did not reach a well-off level. Many of these people had experienced divorce, including women with children. They were facing financial troubles as well as remarriage difficulties. In order to improve this situation, they choose transnational marriage.
