Cover Figure
Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) transplanted in a rat injured spinal cord expressed matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2). Hoechst 33342-labeled OECs (red) were transplatend in a contused spinal cord and MMP-2 expression (green) around OECs was observed by immunofluorescence. MMP-2 expressed by transplanted OECs was thought to degrade inhibitory molecules for axonal regeneration in injured spinal cord.
