セックスロボットは10 年前購入可能になったと言われている。言うまでもなく、現時点では、セックスロボットの機能は限られており、値段も高いため、誰でも好きなときに購入できるというわけではない。しかし、セックスロボットは驚くほどのスピードで進歩している。なるほど、セックスロボット業界のトップランナーの一人であったD. レヴィによれば、2050 年までに誰でも何気なくセックスロボットと性的行為を行うようになると主張していた。レヴィの予言が実現された場合、セックスロボットは人間の性的生活に対して重大な影響を与えると考えられる。実際、現代社会においても、その可能性に対する恐れから、セックスロボットに対する反対運動がすでに生じつつある。しかし、それにもかかわらず、日本ではセックスロボットの倫理に関する研究はほとんど進んでいないようである。そこで、本研究ノートではセックスロボットが人間と技術、あるいは人間同士の関係をどのように変えることができるかを具体的に考察するための第一歩として、欧米の倫理学におけるセックスロボットに関する研究の動向をまとめる。その際、手がかりになるのは「表象」という言葉である。というのも、どんな性的行為をも拒まない「理想的」な相手としてのセックスロボットは人間同士のセックスにどういった影響を与えるか、ということのほうが問題になることが多いからである。
Sex-robots have been available on the market for purchase for about the past 10 years. Naturally, at the present moment, there functionality is limited and they are expensive. In this sense, they have yet to truly permeate our society. Yet, sex-robots have been developing at a surprising speed. So much so that one author, David Levy, has predicted that anyone would be able and willing to perform sexual acts with a robot by 2050. If Levy’s prophecy holds true, sex robots will certainly have a massive impact on human sexuality. Indeed, even in current times, there are movements that have fought against sex-robots in anticipation of these consequences. Yet, with all of that said, there has been little research done on the ethics of sex-robots in the Japanese literature. In response to this, this research note will take a first step toward facing the ethical challenges presented by sex robots by outlining how they have been addressed in English-language literature on the topic. When doing so, we shall see that the concept of“ representation” is a crucial factor. In other words, we shall see that the representation of an “ideal” partner who does not refuse any sexual acts could potentially effect human sexuality in a variety of ways.
