Abstract

This study examined the current state of education to "Informatics I" in high and secondary schools, which was supposed to be adopted as a new compulsory subject from the 2022 academic year. Furthermore, it explored the issues related to treating Informatics I as an entrance examination subject when selecting university students. The survey was conducted among career guidance teachers from high and secondary schools. The authors asked the teachers how much they are for or against the compulsory subject Informatics I and how anxious they feel about some aspects of education the results show that they were somewhat for it and that although they mainly felt anxious about the number of teachers on the education of informatics, the aspects they were likely to feel anxious about varied. In addition, when the authors asked the teachers how much they are for or against making the subject an entrance examination subject and how good or bad they think about some aspects of related issues, it was found that they were quite against it mainly in terms of "appropriateness as content in an entrance examination subject" and "scheduled start date of the examination."
