Tasuke YAMAMOTO (1904-1993), a Hokkaido Ainu man who was born in Kushiro, made a trip to two Sakhalin Ainu's villages (Niitoi and Shirahama) in 1936-1937. He then recorded vocabulary of the Sakhalin dialect of Ainu and oral-history about chiefs. His notes were donated to the Municipal Library of Kushiro in Hokkaido.
