森林生態系において，植物の成長と枯死を野外でどのように定量的に測定するのか，また渦相関法によるタワーフラックス観測との連携を視野に入れて，生態学的な方法にどのような問題点があるのかについて整理した．
Net primary production (NPP) is defined as the total new organic matter produced during a specified interval. I examine how forest NPP can be estimated based on field measurements, and how field NPP measurements can be used to complement eddy covariance based studies of whole-forest CO2 flux.
