系1複合体は，チラコイド膜に存在し，多数のサブユニットとコファクターから構成される超分子複合体である．光エネルギーを利用して，プラストシアニンもしくはシトクロムc6からフェレドキシンへの電子伝達反応を駆動する．本章では，系1複合体を可溶化したチラコイド膜から精製する方法を紹介する．
Photosystem I catalyzes a light-induced electron transfer from plastocyanin or cytochrome c6 to ferredoxin and forms chlorophyll-protein complex consisting of more than ten subunits and one hundred cofactors. In this chapter, biochemical purification of photosystem I complex by sucrose density gradient ultracentrifugation and DEAE column chromatography is described.
