ギンガショウジョウバエ属は, 頭部から胸部にかけて特徴的な銀白色縦条を持っており, そのため, 同様に銀白色縦条を持つトゲアシショウジョウバエ属との分類の混乱が見られた. そこで, 本稿では, まずギンガショウジョウバエ属の分類変遷について概観し, トゲアシショウジョウバエ属との分類の混乱の実態を明らかにした. 次に, これまでのショウジョウバエ科のいくつかの系統仮説を紹介し, 本属および, これまでに類縁が示唆された属との系統関係について考察した. さらに, 銀白色縦条が非相同形質であることを明らかにしたYassin et al.（2010）の研究を紹介し, 最後に, ギンガショウジョウバエ属の今後の研究の方向性を示した.
Until the revisional work by Okada and Carson (1983), many taxonomists had confused the genus Phorticella with the genus Zaprionus, because of sharing the silvery or chalky white longitudinal stripes on their head and thorax. First, in this paper, I provided an overview of some taxonomic researches on Phorticella and their possible related genera. Second, I reviewed some hypotheses on the phylogeny of the family Drosophilidae and the previous work by Yassin et al. (2010) having shown that the silvery or chalky white longitudinal stripes on head and thorax are not homologous between the two genera. Finally, I presented some perspectives of researches on the genus Phorticella.
