小論は、日中十五年戦争期の大日本軍宣撫班編纂教科書『日本語會話讀本』について、中華人民共和国北京市档案館で新たに発見された巻本を既存の巻本と対照し、それらの校異を明らかにしつつその成立過程を考察したものである。その際、特に書体・字形の異同、表紙・裏表紙の相違、誤記・誤植、中でも表音式表記の崩れに注目し、各巻・各版の成立時期を推定した。その結果、1）初版は満鉄系宣撫官によって執筆・刊行されたが、他の版は一般公募による宣撫官によって改版・刊行されたこと、2）北京市で発見された版は第四版で、宣撫班解散後に中華民国新民会に引き継がれて改版・刊行されたこと、3）『巻一（第四版）』のみ改版作業に中国人が関与した可能性があること、4）『巻二』の第三版と第四版は同じ印刷者によるもの、の4点が推定された。最後に今後の課題として、中国人の関与に関するさらなる検討と史料探索の継続の必要性を述べた。
This paper investigates philologically the processes of editing and publication of "Nippongo Kaiwa Tokuhon (Reader for Japanese Conversation)" edited by the Japanese Military Placation Squad during the Sino-Japanese War from 1931 to 1945. The author presents the differences among five texts including "Nippongo Kaiwa Tokuhon" discovered recently at the Peking Municipal Archive in China, and examines the probable periods of publication through the differences of printing types, covers/back covers and misprints, especially the errors of phonetic spellings. As a result of investigation, the following points are presumed: 1) the first edition was written and published by the member(s) of the Placation Squad from the South Manchurian Railway Co. Ltd. and the other editions were revised by member(s) employed by public advertisement from February of 1938. 2) the text of volume 1 discovered in Peking is the fourth edition edited by Shinminkai after the break-up of the Placation Squad. 3) there is a possibility that Chinese staff participated in the editing of the text of volume 1, fourth edition. 4) the third edition and the fourth edition of volume 2 were published and made by the same printer. Finally, as future research issues, further examination regarding the cooperation of Chinese staff and the continual investigation of the textbooks and documents will be needed.
