海洋は大気の60倍以上の炭素を含む巨大な炭素リザーバである．本稿では，海の中の炭素の流れ（海洋炭素循環）をコントロールするプロセスについて概観するとともに，海洋中の炭素濃度分布を再現するための数値モデルである海洋炭素循環モデルについて紹介する．モデル作成の際の考え方などについても言及しながら基礎的な解説を行う．
The ocean contains 60 times more carbon than the atmosphere, and the ocean carbon cycle is important for controlling the atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration. Here, an introduction to the ocean carbon cycle modelling is provided for students and readers who are not familiar with the modelling.
