This paper examines the similarities and differences of the auxiliary verbs iy-/ jiber- in the Kyrgyz and Altai languages, pointing out the following facts: 1. The auxiliary verb iy- in Altai and the auxiliary verbs iy-/ jiber- in Kyrgyz share similar behavior when they follow certain transitive and intransitive verbs. 2. The auxiliary verbs iy-/ jiber- in Kyrgyz follow only a limited kind of verbs. 3. The auxiliary verb iy- in Altai is used more often and able to follow a less limited kind of verbs when compared with those in Kyrgyz. In addition, the behavior of the auxiliary verb iy- in Altai seems much different from that in Kyrgyz.
