This study calculates regional contributions of total factor productivity (TFP) for Koreaʼs rice-farming using the multilateral TFP index over the 1994-2006 period, where the overall effect in the regional contributions is decomposed into share effect and TFP growth effect. Results show that the sum of contributions of the overall effect for three provinces, South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong and Gyeonggi, to the national aggregate TFP growth accounted for in excess of 80%. Furthermore, we reveal that the multilateral TFP index with the property of circularity has an advantage over the Törnqvist TFP index in calculating the contribution of the share effect. As a whole, the results of regional contributions for Koreaʼs rice farming TFP using the multilateral TFP index are found to be similar to those using the Törnqvist TFP index in the previous study.
