抄録	Modified thoacoabdominal nerve block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) has gathered increasing attention. However, the anatomical mechanism remains to be elucidated. Thus, we conducted a preliminary study to investigate the dye distribution pattern of M-TAPA using a soft-embalmed Thiel cadaver. On both sides, 25 mL of blue dye was meticulously injected between the posterior aspect of the 10th costal cartilage and the origin of the transversus abdominis muscle. Subsequent dissection revealed that dye spread was not observed on the transversus abdominis plane, but rather in the space between the diaphragm and the parietal peritoneum, where the anterior branches of the spinal nerves do not traverse. Notably, dye oozing at the 9th intercostal muscle was observed, suggesting that 9th intercostarl nerve was anesthetized. The outcomes of our anatomical investigation imply that administering local anesthesia via M-TAPA may result in suboptimal diffusion patterns in some cases, leading to a limited sensory area.
