Abstract: Hokkaido University School of Medicine held the first Faculty Development (FD) Program for teaching skill in 1992. We have continued it every year since 1998. One Director and about 6 task forces planned the central theme and programs for it every time. Medical education has the unique character that is vocational training. The contents of FD should contain curriculum planning, general instructional objectives (GIOs), subjective behavioral objectives (SBOs), learning strategies and educational evaluation, but it is more important to emphasize the outcome of medical education (outcome-based education).
