Abstract

A new version of the multi-dimensional bin-microphysics model, which employs five dimensions to represent the diversity of physicochemical properties of aerosol, cloud and precipitation particles, was developed. The model is able to seamlessly represent internal and external mixings of two different aerosol components, and to express various shape and density of an ice particle in a given resolution. The model was incorporated into an adiabatic parcel model to perform two simulations. One simulation is to examine the sensitivity of cloud formation to the externally-mixing ratio of two types of cloud condensation nuclei. Another is to provide reference data for improvement of bulk microphysics model. This article shows brief description of the model and the simulation results.
