北海道大学病院は自治体が一地方という地域特性を持つ北海道の基幹病院である．口腔ケア連携センターの活動を通して広域を担う基幹病院の医科歯科連携について調査した．医科からの紹介件数は，新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID－19）の流行により減少傾向が見られているが，2016年における活動当初よりも件数は増加している．依頼内容について多かったものは化学療法における口腔粘膜の管理，BMA導入前の口腔内精査と導入後の口腔管理，全身麻酔術における口腔ケアであった．当院の提携歯科医療機関については地方に少なく，継続的な口腔管理が必要な地方在住患者の対応が難しいことなどが課題となっている．北海道の地方における同医療機関はわずかに増加していたが，地方在住患者の継続的な歯科受診を確保するためには，かかりつけ歯科医院やがん診療連携登録歯科医の協力が必要であると考えられた．
The Hokkaido University Hospital is a core hospital for the Hokkaido Prefecture, as it is a single region governed as a municipality. We surveyed the medical‒dental collaboration in this hospital, which provides extensive oral medical care through its Oral Care Center. Although the number of referrals from medical institutions decreased due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, the number remained high er than it was at its inception in 2016. Oral management during chemotherapy, oral investigations before and after administering bone-modifying agents, and oral care during the perioperative period were a few of the requests received at the oral care centre. However, there are few dental clinics in rural Hokkaido that collaborate with our hospital; moreover, the difficulty of dealing with their patients in terms of continuous oral management remains an issue. Although the number of collaborating dental clinics in these rural areas increased slightly, continued dental care for patients in these areas requires the cooperation of family dentists and cancer patients support dentists.
