本稿は、ソーシャルロボットの普及に伴って生じつつある倫理的問題として、ロボットユーザーへのステレオタイプ・偏見の問題について警鐘を鳴らすことを目的とする。ロボットユーザーを一概に孤独だと見なすステレオタイプ・偏見が学術界を含む社会に蔓延し始めており、それがユーザーへの不利益や社会への悪影響をもたらす可能性がある。そこで本稿では、従来のメディア（ゲーム、インターネット、ソーシャルメディア、等）を巡って生じた事態を参考にしつつ、また「証拠に基づくロボット倫理」のアプローチに従って、当該のステレオタイプ・偏見に検討を加える。まず、フィクション作品『イヴの時間』での描写を参考に、ロボットユーザーへの偏見がどのような仕方で生じうるかを考察する。次いで、当該の偏見が、現実でも、高齢者等に対する既存のステレオタイプと結びつく形で生じており、特にロボティクスやロボット倫理の文献に見られることを指摘する。さらに、それが今後ロボットの悪影響論と結びつくことでより深刻な事態を招きうることを主張する。結論として、ステレオタイプ・偏見や悪影響論に対処するために、ロボット倫理に携わる者は科学的証拠に基づく議論を行う責任を自覚する必要がある、と説く。
This paper aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding stereotypes and prejudices against robot users, which have become an ethical concern alongside the proliferation of social robots. Stereotypes and prejudices that portray robot users as predominantly lonely have started to permeate society, including academic circles, and they have the potential to lead to disadvantages for users and negative impacts on society. Therefore, this paper examines these stereotypes and prejudices while drawing upon situations that have arisen in traditional media, such as video games, the internet, and social media, and following the approach of‘ evidence-based robot ethics.’ First, I explore how prejudices against robot users can manifest, drawing inspiration from the fictional work‘ Eve no Jikan' (Time of Eve). Next, I highlight that these prejudices are present in the literature of robotics and robot ethics, intertwining with existing stereotypes, especially those related to the elderly. Furthermore, I argue that these prejudices could potentially result in more serious consequences in the future when connected to concerns about the negative effects of robots. In conclusion, I underscore the importance that scholars involved in robot ethics should recognize their responsibility in engaging in evidence-based discussions to address stereotypes and prejudices against robot users and concerns about the negative effects of robots.
