Abstract
The field current observations were carried out and the temporal change in spatial distributions of scallop larvae was analyzed to infer the horizontal circulation of Mutsu Bay in winter to spring. The observed flow and the passive transport of larvae could be simulated using a barotropic ocean model under the real wind forcing. The simulated current pattern was composed of two vortices at the eastern part of bay. It is well known that such a pair of vortices is formed by the vortices supply from wind stress.
