海洋島である小笠原諸島におけるこれまでのショウジョウバエ研究を概説するとともに, ショウジョウバエ相の変遷について議論した. また, 1998年11月に1990年の調査から8年ぶりに父島と母島で行なった調査の結果を報告した : （1）バナナトラップとスウィーピングにより, 父島から6属13種11,779個体, 母島から7属14種15,178個体のショウジョウバエが採集された ; （2）Drosophila hypocaustaが初めて小笠原諸島から記録され, D. simulansに次ぐ優占種（父島で総採集個体数の19.4%, 母島で9.6%を占めた）であった.
We reviewed previous researches on the drosophilid fauna of the Ogasawara Islands and discussed the recent 30-year changes of the drosophilid fauna in the islands. In addition, we reported the results of our collection by banana-trapping and net-sweeping in 1998 after a lapse of eight years from the latest survey; 11,779 individuals of 13 species of 6 genera were collected from Chichijima and 15,178 individuals of 14 species of 7 genera were collected from Hahajima. Drosophila hypocausta was collected from the Islands for the first time, and was the second most dominant species occupying 19.4% and 9.6% of the total samples in Chichijima and Hahajima, respectively.
