This study investigated the diferences in interest between arable and dairy farmers on the use of biogas digestate as an alternative fertilizer in Shihoro. The cognitive mapping approach was used to collect data from arable and dairy farmers. Based on the concept of psychological distance, the components on farmers'cognitive maps were classified and compared between the two groups. Results show that there are diferences in interest between arable and dairy farmers and this causes arable farmers'less appreciation of digestate. To promote biogas production, there is a need for the two groups to build the consensus through sharing the same visions of biogas production systems.
