Abstract

In this paper, we will clarify what kind of abilities are required of intermediary organizations. In addition, we will clarify how that ability can be enhanced in practice. In this paper, we take an example of an intermediary organization called Action with Communities in Cumbria (ACT). We will analyze the expertise of the coordinator from the contents of the support project for the community and the activities of the staff. We also analyze our efforts to improve our expertise. The expertise required of them is not the expertise that leads to the solution of a specific problem. The required ability is the ability to interact with the community. This requires individual staff to have communication skills to participate in conversations between local residents. The tireless efforts and reflections of each staff member in their daily work will improve their abilities. As an organization, we consciously incorporate external training, internal advice, and discussions. ACT has been supporting Cumbria for many years. Its history helps the activities of current staff.
