Abstract

The authors investigated the secondary echinococcosis in mice which were given injection intraperitoneally and subcutaneously with the material of Echinococcous multilocularis obtained from a red-backed vole, Clethrionomys rutilus. It was concluded that the injected scolex has a strong tendency to die in a comparatively early stage of development and to be organized ; these facts are different from the results obtained from experiments with the unilocular type as reported in the literature of parasitology. The authors also recognized that the scolex will occasionally develop into the adult tissue in the peritoneal fluid.
