界面活性剤は光合成タンパク質の生化学的解析によく用いられる．電気泳動法による分析では，タンパク質の可溶化，変性，電荷の付与などに，膜タンパク質の精製・分析では，疎水性タンパク質の可溶化に使われる．本章では，一般的に使われる界面活性剤について紹介する．
Detergents are frequently used for biochemical analyses of photosynthetic proteins. For polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, detergents are used to solubilize and/or denature proteins. For purification of membrane proteins, detergents are also required for solubilization of water-insoluble proteins. In this chapter, detergents that are frequently used in protein biochemistry are introduced.
