Abstract: The authors synthetically examined histopathological findings of biopsy materials in allergic dermatitis of the horse in Japan. Results obtained showed that short hair type in Honshu and long hair type in Tohoku and Hokkaido both essentially present the same skin changes. In conclusion, the authors could state definitely that the initial lesions were exudation in the corium and the degeneration and necrosis in both skin layers which appeared in parallel with the former. There are grounds still left for the extension of knowledge on the pathology of allergy by detailed systematic investigation of diseased horses in the future.
