Abstract: A north-south upper crustal profile of the central Fossa Magna region is presented based mainly on characteristic occurrence of schist xenoliths in the eruptive volcanic rocks of the Southern area and the contrasting lack of those in the Northern area, of the Yatsugatake Volcanic Chain.
