Abstract: | Socio-economic researches on the labor market of manufacturing in temporary China have accumulated abundant research compared to similar researches on other industries; however, the field of researches on labor issues in retail sector remains one of the most underdeveloped research areas as in other industries. Based on three large-scaled surveys, this research covers a variety of rarely explored issues related to the labor market of retail sector in China. These issues include labor market participation and various employments, labor supply like working hours, work efforts, and wages, and also issues related to jobs, such as job matching mechanisms, job turnover, and job training. This study provides a fairly complete picture of the Chinese labor market and attempts to find a solution for a sustainable development approach for the retail sector and the improvement of well-being for its employees. |
