このシンポジウムでは，アジアの山岳地域に焦点をあてて，(1) 陸域システムの脆弱性，回復力，持続可能性と(2) 山地災害，氷河湖決壊洪水，気候変化と適応，観光と生業，生物多様性，自然環境保全などの山岳環境の変化について議論を行います。このシンポジウムは，北海道大学と，北海道大学に設置されている全球陸域プロジェクト（GLP）札幌拠点オフィス，ネパール・トリブバン大学とが共同で実施するもので，サステナビリティ・ウィークの行事を海外で実施する初の試みです。

This symposium, a continuous effort to understand the changes of mountain environments by Hokkaido University, GLP Sapporo Nodal Office, and Tribhuvan University, is a first event of Sustainability Weeks to be held abroad. Focusing on mountains in Asia, this symposium will discuss; 1. vulnerability, resilience, and sustainability of land system, 2. mountain environments including mountain hazards from the Middle Mountain landslide to high alpine GLOF, climate change and adaptation, tourism and livelihood, biodiversity, and nature conservation, and 3. how to apply research results to local community.
