肥満、生活習慣病、体力低下、アレルギーなど、ライフスタイルおよび生活環境に起因する子どもの健康問題が顕在化している。大規模な疫学研究が先行している欧米に比較して、日本そして東アジア地域においては各国における研究連携が十分であったとは言えない。また、東アジアの集団は遺伝的にも生活習慣も欧米人とは異なっている。本国際シンポジウムでは、日本をはじめ、中国、韓国、台湾といった東アジア地域の現状を紹介し、情報交換を行うとともに、子どもにとって健康で持続可能な社会の構築に向けて何をすればよいか議論する。

Children’s health issues are related to their lifestyles and living environments. They include obesity, lifestyle-related diseases, low levels of physical fitness and allergy. Compared with the U.S. and Europe, where large-scale epidemiological studies have been carried out, research collaboration has been nowhere near adequate in Japan and other East Asian countries. Additionally, genetic backgrounds and lifestyles differ between populations in East Asia and Western countries. This international symposium will illustrate, based on epidemiological studies, the current status of children in East Asia, such as Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan, and convene discussion on necessary measures for building a healthy, sustainable society for children.The second day, introduce a healthy policy and role of WHO collaboration centers in a panel discussion.
