Abstract: This study examined the ventilation conditions at early stage of composting influence decomposition of organic matter for compost. An experimental device for composting was used and the ventilation conditions were adopted both continuous ventilation and on/off switching ventilation. The continuous ventilation that ventilated with a constant quantity during the experiment and the switching ventilation that reduce quantity of ventilation in the middle of the experiment were performed under conditions of plural with different quantity of ventilation. Comparison between the continuous ventilation and the switching ventilation, although integrated oxygen consumption was low level during composting, an organic matter decomposition rate was high by use switching ventilation conditions. The results suggested that the decomposition of organic matter rate progressed while reducing energy was permitted by reducing quantity of ventilation having passed the second peak of early stage of composting.
牛ふんのコンポスト化において効率的な有機物分解が行われる通気条件についての検討を行った。実験には小容積堆肥化実験装置を用いた。実験中一定の通気量で通気を行う連続通気と、途中で通気量を小さくする操作を加えた切り替え通気を、それぞれ通気量を変え複数の条件で行った。堆肥材料の温度、排気中の酸素濃度の計測を行い、実験前後での有機物分解率をコンポスト成熟度の指標とした。連続通気条件と切り替え通気条件の結果を比較すると、切り替え通気実験では実験中の微生物活動の量を示している積算の酸素消費は少なく有機物分解率が高いという結果が見られた。このことから、微生物の分解活動のピークを過ぎた後に通気量を減らすことでエネルギコストを低減しながら成熟を妨げないコンポスト化が実現できる可能性が示唆された。
