Abstract:	桧山地方演習林は、1956年上の国町より約100haの林地を寄贈されて発足したが、林地は皆伐跡地であったため、演習林の経営は更新から始まったと言えよう。ここでは道南の主要樹種であるヒバ、スギの更新について、総括的に述べたい。
