Abstract: Indole-3-propionic acid (IPA), a member of the plant auxin family, plays an important role in biological activity. There are few reports on the preparation of deuterated IPA. Deuterated trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOD) is a hydrogen-deuterium exchange reagent used for aromatic compounds. The hydrogen-deuterium exchange of IPA and indole-3-alaknoic acid derivatives with TfOD was examined in detail.
