Job Shadowing Training Support” as an example of efforts to nurture female research leaders. The lessons learned by total eight associate professors who participated in the training (hereinafter referred to as mentees) over a five-year are classified into three categories, which had been analyzed from the information on training report submitted by mentees. 1. Matters related to the clarification of the vision (values/educational outlook, code of conduct, decision-making, etc.) 2. Leader skills (laboratory management, organizational and conference management, guidance for students and young researchers, strategic thinking, communication skills, etc.) 3. Things related to self-management (time management, prioritization, physical condition management, motivation maintenance, actions for smooth communication, etc.) In this program, mentees had set their own issues and training contents by themselves, thus the above listed possibly indicate the needs when female researchers aim for career advancement from associate to full professor.
