| Abstract: | This study intends to discuss the relationship between elementary schools and local communities in Guilin City, China, where major reorganization of school districts is taking place, from a viewpoint of issues shared throughout the Chinese society. Upon finding out facts about the reorganization of elementary schools in Guilin's central District 5, we analyzed consciousness shared by residents surrounding the reorganized schools. Whereas the main factor for school reformation in Japan are dwindling population, influx of population from rural areas or municipal mergers are the surveyed area's major reasons for the reorganization, mostly done through building additional megaschools. Through the research, it was found that the neighborhood residents are generally in support of such reorganization, but their satisfaction level and interest are varied based on the type of reorganization. |
