Abstract: 人工的に生成した氷の微粒子を雲内に導入し, 自然の雲が雨・雪を生成するメカニズムの持つ律速過程にバイパスをつけて降水を促進させる人工降雨技術(意図的気象改変)は, 第二次世界大戦直後に華々しく登場し, 現在では世界40か国で使用されている. 本稿では, 人工降雨の原理・歴史・現状と問題点を述べるとともに, 最新の人工降雨研究の取り組みを紹介する.
Immediately after World War II, the rainmaking (one of planned weather modification) technology of introducing the artificially generated aerosols (or ice particles) into clouds,bypassing the rate-limiting process which the mechanism in which natural clouds generate rain and snow has, and enhancing rain, appeared brilliantly, and is used at 40 nations in the world now. In this paper,while describing the principle, history and present state, and problems of rainmaking, the leading-edge trend of the planned weather modification researchis introduced.
