| General circulation models have been used to simulate the atmosphere at the last glacial maximum, the age of large-scale ice-sheets, and reduced CO_2 content. In the present study, we focus on atmospheric circulation over East Asia and the North Pacific. The coupled atmosphere-ocean model reproduces a number of characteristics that are consistent with geological records, including the dry signal over East Asia and the southward shift of the upperlevel westerly jet. A number of different models produced consistent changes in circulation over the North Pacific. Sensitivity experiments reveal that the albedo effect of the ice sheet over North America has a significant influence on atmospheric circulation over the North Pacific. |
