Abstract: To examine the psychological effects of visual production techniques, the study compares viewer’s perceptions of images with fixed camera movement and with shot movements. Twentyfive subjects viewed the four film clips: visual images of geometric figures and nature with fixed cameras and same images with shot movement of zoom in. They tested eight impression factors: fancy-plain, good-bad, beautiful-ugly, impactful-ordinary, simple-difficult, basic-complicated, likedislike, and active-lazy. The two-way ANOVA analysis (two scenes × two types of filming technique) showed that shot movements (zoom in) had effect on viewer’s perception.
