In the field of Japanese language teaching, up to now there have been few studies on the effects of feedback. This paper shows the results of feedback held in the intermediate oral-communication class in spring and winter semesters 1996-1997. The feedback discussed here was held in two ways. One was composed of correction of grammatical errors, consciousness-raising through the tapes and reviews of grammar in the spring semester, and the other was composed only of correction of grammatical errors in the winter semester. After six months, based on the results of these two types of feedback, it seems that both were effective for Japanese language learning, but the feedback in the spring semester composed of the three elements above led the learners to a much more effective reduction of errors. Further, although students accepted feedback on some grammatical points easily, they had difficulty with other points. Finally this study points out some problems to be improved for intermediate oral-communication class and feedback.
