| Abstract: | Fluent reading is a crucial skill for modern-day life and education. On the other hand, there are people who suffer from reading difficulties, such as developmental dyslexia, who await clarification of causes and effective intervention methods. To deal with this issue, the present article will first introduce studies regarding early stages of visual word processing in expert readers, in order to provide insights into psychological/neural correlates of fluent reading. Secondly, causes and interventions of developmental dyslexia will be discussed on the basis of experimental findings introduced. Finally, the article will propose roles of experimental and clinical studies, and necessity of their interaction for further progress in researches on reading and developmental dyslexia | | 文字を流暢に読むスキルは，現代の生活や教育に不可欠である。しかし，発達性ディスレクシア等で読みに困難がある人々も存在し，原因の解明と支援法の開発が課題となっている。本稿では読みとその困難の解明に向けて，熟達した読み手が文字列を見た直後に生じる心的処理および神経処理に関する基礎研究を紹介し，流暢な読みの基盤と想定されるメカニズムを考察する。そして，読みに特異的な困難を示す発達性ディスレクシアの原因と支援方法について，基礎研究の成果を踏まえて議論する。最後に，読みと発達性ディスレクシアの更なる解明に向け，基礎研究と臨床研究に望まれる役割および両者の双方向的なアプローチの必要性について述べる。 |
