| Abstract: | 1896年から1898年までの間，漢文学者である古城貞吉は中国語の新聞で
ある『時務報』，『昌言報』，『農学報』などのために多くの新聞や本などを翻
訳した。1898年に出版された『昌言報』の「東文訳編」欄には「啓羅」とい
う訳語が現れた。日本語原文記事では「キロ」であるが，この訳語は古城氏
が翻訳した際の発想か当時中国語に既にあったことばなのかはっきりしな
い。
公定尺度単位の国字について日中両方の先行研究は多くあるが，「啓羅」に
ついての研究はあまりないように見受けられる。「粁」，「瓩」は『漢語外来詞
詞典』（1984．上海辞書出版社）で日本語借用語と明記されているが，音訳語
「啓羅」についてはフランス語の音訳語とされている。本稿は主に「啓羅」に
ついて，それがどういう位置づけを持つか日中両方の辞書類とコーパスを利
用し，辞書記述と現実使用の両方から調査を行った。 |
