Abstract: 窒素を含む複素環化合物である核酸塩基は,糖,リン酸とともに,生命の遺伝情報をつかさどる核 酸の構成成分である.これまでの研究で,炭素質隕石から隕石固有の核酸塩基数種(ウラシル,アデ ニン,キサンチン,ヒポキサンチン)が発見されており,地球外環境でも核酸塩基が生成可能である ことを強く示唆した.本稿では,地球外における非生物的な核酸塩基生成に関する研究成果を著者ら の最新の成果も交えて紹介し,関連研究の今後について展望を述べる.
Nucleobases are one of the prerequisite components of nucleic acids, which contain genetic information in terrestrial life. It has been demonstrated that several kinds of indigenous nucleobases (uracil, adenine, xanthine, and hypoxanthine) are present in carbonaceous meteorites. These findings strongly indicate that nucleobases can be abiotically synthesized in extraterrestrial environments. This review will provide an overview of previous and recent experimental studies on the synthesis of nucleobases in extraterrestrial environments and report on the future prospects of these and related studies.
