| Abstract: | 一九二二（大正一一）年一月号の『新小説』に掲載された芥川龍之介「神々の微笑」について、南蛮屏風鑑賞者と読者との協力関係を取り上げ、一点から動かない物理的な制約に反して時間や場所を越えた意味論的な豊かさを持つことを検討した。神の不在という天の岩屋籠り場面はオルガンティノを敗北させるための演出である。日本人の老人の霊というキャラクターは小泉八雲「九州の学生たちと」に登場する秋月悌次郎教授がモデルであり、おなじく小泉八雲「日本人の微笑」にあるように、オルガンティノはこの老人の微笑を誤解する。テクストは屏風そのものと変貌し、オルガンティノにとって過去であった来日は、後世の読者にとって未来への希望となる。 |
