| Abstract: | 日本語教育において「の」と「こと」の使い分けがよく問題とされる。この使い分けに関しては現在まで多くの研究があるのだが、未だにはっきりした使い分けの基準は示されていない。従来、統語的・意味的な観点から議論されてきた「の」と「こと」の使い分けに関し、この研究ノートでは音声的な観点から議論をスタートさせる。その分析を通じ、いままでの議論を検証する。結論として、「の」に先行する節には「唯一性 uniqueness」があることを主張する。一方「こと」に先行する節は、形式名詞「こと」の修飾節となることを立証し、連体修飾という機能から「の」に見られる唯一性を持たないことを主張する。 | | In Japanese, the use of no and koto is complicated. It has been thought that these two forms are pseudo-nouns which lack substantial meaning. But if we consider them from a phonetic point of view, it is clear that koto is a noun while no is a suffix which nominalizes a clause. A clause which precedes koto has a noun modifying function while a clause to which no is attached lacks such a function. To modify a noun implicates that there are other possible classes of the noun. This leads to the hypothesis that the koto construction may select from a range of variation, while the no construction intrinsically focusses on "uniqueness". This study examines the validity of the hypothesis in comparison to previous syntactic and semantic analyses of no and koto. It is found that in some cases this hyphothesis can clarify questions which previous studies did not explain. |
