A canine corneal epithelial cell sheet was cultivated from autologous limbal segments and transplanted on to an injured cornea with sutures and a contact lens. The recovery of corneal transparency was promoted after transplantation of a corneal epithelial cell sheet without any significant side effects. Transplantation of autologous corneal epithelial cell sheets can be a promising regenerative therapy for ocular surface reconstruction in dogs.
